Hi, I’m Heidi. As the co-founder of FHC (Fresh Handmade Cosmetics), I am so excited you found your way to our site. I’d love to share the personal journey that led me here, and why I created FHC.

The Breaking Point

For as long as I can remember, I struggled with a sensitive scalp and reactive skin. It eventually got to the point where I couldn’t even take a shower without my eyes reacting just to the smell of commercial shampoo. Around the same time, I was diagnosed with asthma, and my 8-year-old son developed a painful rash that turned into blisters on his scalp.

Like many people, I was simply tired of hunting for safe products. I used to complain about almost everything I bought—deceptive packaging, poor quality that didn’t live up to its claims, and a complete lack of ethical transparency. I tried every single "hypoallergenic" and "natural" option on the market, and the medicated treatments prescribed by doctors didn't bring any real relief.

As a mum, I had officially had enough.

A Little Push and a Family Legacy

Following a gentle nudge from my husband—who told me, "Stop complaining and do something about it"—I decided to take matters into my own hands.

I gave my aunt a call. A dermatologist and skin specialist of over 30 years, she used to make custom remedies for us when we were little. Growing up free of allergies or skin flare-ups was just the norm for us, thanks to her care.

When I called her, she shared her time-tested recipes and expert advice. And voila—after just the first time using her shampoo and soap recipes, we felt immediate relief, and our skin completely healed over time. Today, both my teenage son and I can shower totally free of sensitivities.

From Family Remedy to a Mission for Everyone

Thanks to my background in dentistry school, I had a solid foundation of medical knowledge. Inspired by my aunt’s "little black book" of formulas, I began diving deep into research and formulating my own cosmetics.

What started with a gentle shampoo quickly snowballed. I began preparing our own soaps, body lotions, deodorants, and even completely replaced my makeup. Soon, I was gifting my excess batches to friends and family, who kept asking for more.

Still, a nagging feeling remained: normal people don't have the alternatives, options, or medical knowledge to make healthy decisions about the products they consume.

Why FHC Exists Today

I realized I wanted to change that. People deserve the freedom to be healthy, the power to say "no to plastics," and the right to care for the planet without compromising their skin.

Every single FHC product is crafted from scratch using pure, ethical, plastic-free ingredients. I am so proud to share my aunt's life's work and my own passion with you. I truly hope our shampoo bars, soaps, and natural essentials help you, your family, and your friends just as much as they helped ours.
